Anytime I have a business challenge or goal – big or small – here is the simple (yet not always easy) process I go through…

Step 1: Get AWAY from business and computer

I love doing some “super-thinking” on vacation at the beach early in the morning.

But since that is not a regular thing… sometimes my best super thinking happens in the shower or as I am lying in bed at night.

This is helpful to clear your mind and give you a big picture overview of your business.

“It is hard to see the picture when you are in the frame.”

Which is why we all need a coach, mentor, community, clients, friends, etc. to offer us feedback.

This is a good opportunity for a shameless plug to my upcoming mastermind and mentorship 😉

Step 2: Idea

Think about your goals and some ideas of how you can get there.

Come up with the best idea.

Think the idea through from start to finish…

Is it reasonable (are other people doing it)?

How much effort, time, and money will it take you?

What is the end goal/outcome of this idea?

What is the worst and best thing that could happen?

Step 3: Sleep on it

Sleep on the idea for a day or two.

For people like me who get excited about ideas, this has been something I have had to force myself to do.

But don’t sleep on it too long. 🙂

Step 4: Plan

If your idea still sounds pretty darn good after a day or two of thinking about it, start to plan it out.

How will you get from where you are now to achieving that goal?

What needs to happen first?

Come up with a plan that feels logically good.

Write it down and sleep on it again.

Step 5: Execute

The simplest yet hardest part.

Follow your plan without letting your emotions get in the way.

For example: You planned to do weekly Facebook Lives for a month. Finish it out even if you feel like you totally suck.

See the plan to fruition.

Now, if some huge life event happens (for example: someone get sick or dies or needs you), your plan is not more important than people we love.

My point here is do not let your feelings get in the way of your logical plan.

Step 6: Evaluate

What went well?

What could you have done better?

Is your heart still in this idea or is it leading you somewhere else?
